Hey "huge brain"
There is no disputing by anyone with any kind of scientific credentials at all that it is a "human" of course it is a human!! what else would it be? elephant? dog?
Not even the abortion advocates side (unless they are fools) dare to say it isn't a human, they can't do that any more because that it IS indeed a human is scientific fact. An embryo and/or a fetus have the DNA of a human, it's own individual DNA, the same as you and I which makes us unique, not a monkey or a worm, but human DNA.
Abortion advocates then further give a funny argument and say: 'well, it may be human but it is not a human BEING" --
in that case I would ask them what that was, since all a human being is is Being Human.
The word I believe you are looking for is, is it a "PERSON". Whether or not a fetus is a person is the crux of the abortion debate. It is in fact alive, it is in fact a human. Person is a legal term as much as murder is.
It is a person when it looks and acts like one.

It isn't a right or a priviledge. Once a child is conceived, it is a child and it isn't about the woman anymore. The right is in the ability to choose to have sex or not knowing that pregnancy is a possible outcome. Abortion is murder.

Okay, world... pay attention. I have the final answer on this issue.

Sperm cells by themselves ARE living things (just look under a microscope and see them swim), but they are not HUMAN until they fertilize the female egg. So, until the point of fertilization, this discussion does not even apply. Otherwise, ever time a guy masterbates, it would be a million little deaths, which is absurd.

Now, we need to define our terms:

Abortion: A medical procedure which purposely causes the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus.

Embryo: A developing human individual from the time of conception until the end of the eighth week after conception.

Fetus: A developing human two months after conception until its birth.

Birth: The emergence of a new individual from the body of its mother.

Right: A power or privilege to which one is justly entitled, either under law or moral propriety.

Privilege: A right granted as a special benefit, advantage, or favor. In this case, due to one's culture.

Murder: This is a legal term of art. It is the crime of unlawfully killing a person, especially with premeditated malice.

So, the question is whether it is a right or a privilege to choose to abort a pregnancy at any point between conception and birth, including during the embryonic or fetus stages.

Right now, it is a "right," because the current law states that abortion is legal. However, if that law were to be overturned, it would no longer be a right. At that point, it would also NOT be a privilege, because you would be unable to exercise that privilege.

The real question is whether abortion SHOULD be a right. This gets to the moral question of whether an embryo or a fetus is, in fact, human.

This is the very crux of the issue.

Generally speaking, the "Pro Life" crowd believes that human life begins at conception and, therefore, abortion is murder. Since murder is definitionally illegal (not to mention immoral), they believe that abortion should be illegal (and is immoral).

The "Pro Choice" crowd believes that human life does not begin until after conception and after the embryo has become a fetus. Some people even believe that human life does not begin until birth. Since the aborted individual is not human, they believe that abortion cannot be murder.

So, it seems the question comes down to undestanding at what point a fertilized egg can reasonably be considered "human."

The answer is that no one really knows. Some people say that it is when the fetus is self-sustaining (could survive outside the womb). Others say it is when the fetus reaches a certain "age" within the womb.

In reality, it is not possible to know at what point a fertilized egg becomes human. We know for sure it is human when it is born. What about 2 minutes before it is born? If you cause the death of the fetus 2 minutes before birth, would that be murder?

What about 2 hours? What about 2 days? What about 2 weeks?

The point is that no one knows. And I am not giving my opinion because most people who feel strongly one way or the other tend to be crazy and dangerous - and I do not want to anger the lunatic fringe.

To me, "life" entails a certain amount of ability to survive. Because a fetus is not yet developed enough to live outside the mother, it is no more alive than a tumor. At such a small size it is actually similar. It is a parasite on the mother's system just like a tumor. Would you coinsider keeping a tumor because it is a living thing? I know this sounds cold, but I am making a point AND talking about very early termination decision. It is, and should always be, the right of a thinking, rational person to decide what is best for them and for the situation they are in. The fetus does not have the ability to evaluate the environment it will be born into, nor the ability to survive. Thereare people ( I am sure) that wish they could have never been born. Here is a what if? What IF, the mother is NOT allowed to terminate and that baby grows up to mastermind a plan that allows thousands to die in a terrorist plot?

Why should it be just for women? Men should have some say in the situation. We all make a choice when having sex and not using birth control. Men break condoms-woman say they are on birth control--protect yourself if that is a situation you do not want to get into. It has become a bad form of birth control--their are other options. I had a baby at 17--I had many choices--there were at least three couples in my family alone that were willing to adopt the baby. If it was not meant to happen then it would not have. Girls need to face the situation and become women..What are the reasons for abortion--unwanted shame--don't want to lose thier figure--come on--it is only 9 months of your life to give someone else the chance of a lifetime. I am proud to say I live in a state that is challenging the abortion laws.

Abortion is an inalienable right given by God to all people. It is impossible to take such a right away.
Abortion was invented by an all powerful loving God who practices abortion through miscarriage. God has the power to either allow abortion or to make it impossible. God gave man the knowledge of abortion and no other animal.
God made people with different levels of understanding. Some are unable to focus on a loving God and others are only able to understand a hateful god that fears man. A loving all powerful God can take a fetus without killing it and hold the soul of the fetus in his protection. To this God abortion is a loving and graceful tool to make the world a better place. This is the God that makes abortion an inalienable right. The other god is the god of the pro life anti Christ movement. This god has no power over the fetus and allows its soul to be killed. This god is fearful of the true all powerful God and is the greatest danger to the inalienable right to abortion.

It is a right that all women should have. period. If society wasn't run primarily by men it would not be such an issue up for debate. Not that some women aren't pro life- but the majority are pro choice. So I am not sure what the problem is completely, but I know that Bush is an IDIOT

"Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
"Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.'
It's your life but what is wrong is wrong. Every one has an opinion on this subject these days. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, you know, why destroy a living part of you no matter embryo or baby? What did it do to ask for you to kill it? Did it hurt you? Why kill something that knows no wrong?

We will all be judged when the time comes and it shouldn't be by other people. I seriously doubt that there are many women out there who "like" having abortions and do so on a reguarly basis. I think people need to worry about doing what they need to do for themselves before worrying about other people.

People need to mind there own damn buisness and stop trying to dictate what is right or wrong for others. If you don't like it then keep it to yourself and vice versa.

Anyone with a bumper sticker on their car should get their bumper ripped off.
