How long did you use the Proactiv for? It can take several weeks to see an improvement, and you are probably getting new acne all the time. I have had great success with Proactiv. The toner gets a little stingy, so I have to be careful with that, but it works just fine for me.

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.
In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.
Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.
In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.
If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

Now that your a teenager, or maybe even a little past those years, your hormones are at their highest point of activity. It is normal that all teenagers get a few pimples to a face full of acne. (Some lucky people do not have any at all....its just the way it is...).
The most you can do it wash your face in the morning with any face wash that will prevent acne, wash your face when you finish any sports activity, wash your face when you come home from work or school, and wash your face before you go to bed.
Maybe there is no product that is strong enough for you in the stores. In that case you can go to a dermatologist that will perscribe you an acne medication.
P.S. You will always get a little more acne right before your period starts.
Hope this helps!

If the ones on the cheek, etc itching you might've got irritation or a rash from one them. You can't use Neutrogena (spell) and Proactiv together without at least 2 weeks apart (if changing from one to another). You might get a rash. If that's what your description of small acne that suddenly developed are, then visit your doc. I use Melaueluca (spell) it has 3 bottles for wash, cream and soap, but it's cool.

Well the proper way to get rid of acne is to develop a proper skin regimine depending on yoru skin needs. However, every skin regime should include a washing agent as well as a moisturizer (which people with oily skin often leave out).
Also, any skin routine (including Proactiv) takes a week or two for your skin to get used to so it's not uncommon for acne to get worse before it gets better. But stick with it and try to avoid changing products often because that almost always leads to a break out.

I don't know if this helps or not, but i've used proactiv for about 6 months now, and it's working great. Three times a day, and your skin is looking clear the next day. I think people with sensitive skin might have a problem with Proactiv. My mom has extremely sensitive skin and she tried it and it stirred up some infections and allergies. Maybe you should see a dermatologist.

I completely understand what you're going through, I struggled with acne for years.
What I use is excellent for mild acne or any form of acne. I use the Clear Skin Regimen at http://www.acne.org. It's a non-profit (so it's free), the guy who created used to suffer from pimples himself. The system works wonders on my face, and its helped countless other people. The best part is that you don't have to order or buy any expensive treatments, everything you need for the Regimen can be found at your local drugstore. Find out more at the website.
In general, for clear skin it helps if you: don't touch/pick at your skin, drink lots of water, wash your hair frequently, change your pillowcases, exercise, wear little make-up (or if needed, hypo-allergenic makeup), and minimize stress.
Another tip is to look up online consumer reviews of acne products before you buy them, using sites like epinions.com or drugstore.com. A great website I use to get cosmetic reviews is makeupalley.com (A mostly women's site). Hope this helps!

See a dermatologist! They can really help get to the cause! Why are you breaking out? Maybe you are allergic to something? A doctor has the skills to know for sure! Could it be a heat rash?
Don't worry because stress does NOT help acne', also drink lots and lots of water! Good luck! Beauty is not skin deep!
Smiles!

An acne problem can be due to many reasons. Mainly an increased secretion of male sex hormone Androgen creates the problem. There are many acne remedies for the treatment. These acne remedies are effective along with a parallel treatment procedure of medicines. Nothing can stop acne ....
