Can anyone shed some light on implantation and pregnancy tests?

My last cycle started May 30th and I was due again June 30th. I am over a week late which normally wouldn't concern me too much but I had what seemed to be some implantation bleeding on June 28th. I also experienced cramps and the spotting lasted one day. I took a test the day before my cycle was to start and it was negative. I took a test with first morning urine today and it's still negative. I was under the impression that hcg can be detected a few days after implantation and pregnancy tests can be taken 4 days before your period. On the other hand, many doctors say to wait a week after you miss your period. I'm very confused and the numbers don't seem to add up. Is there a way that I can still be pregnant and that I'm testing too early? Any help or advise would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

However, it takes some women a lot longer to test positive than others. Your best bet is to go to your dr. and get a blood test done. They are a lot more sensitive than hpts. i feel the same way you do. my last cycle started on may 27th and i would normally expect it to be about june 29th or july 2nd but nothing came. i also had one tiny bit of spotting on the 29th but no period came after all. i'm not taking a preg test yet. maybe it might be too early for you too. i hope everything works out because i know how frustrating it can be. you can try going to the docs and get a blood test. but i think for myself, i might wait until i'm 2 or 3 weeks late of my period.
