Parabolic mirror/reflector?
Parabolic dishes are what they use for satelite dishes which reflect and concentrate radio- or micro- waves (rather than light).
If you reflectively coat one of these you can make your own solar BBQ. Put a snag on the focal point and watch it cook.... ok so it doesn't cook that quickly. If you have a big one though...

The Mythbusters have been delayed for 2 weeks because of the olympics. It is unknown when the Viral Hour and Ninja Special 2 will air but the Mythbusters will return August 27 with the NASA Hoax Episode

The naming convention for curving inward versus curving outward is convex (outward) and concave (inward). I suspect you were actually curious about the parabolic mirror though. A Parabola is a special kind of curve such that parallel rays striking any portion of the mirror, will all be focused at the same point.

It is a parabolic mirror.
I saw the episode you're talking about and I know from experience that they did not find that mirror in the trash. That was a $3,000 parabolic reflector. Either they stole it, bought it,or if it was in the trash... The person who tossed it a) didn't know what it was and was fired for tossing it or b) tossed it out of spit so they would get fired.

It would be a concave mirror. But I don't know if there was a more specific name for the mirrior because I haven't seen that episode.

What they brought was a parabolic mirror...this is one that will focus the incoming light to a single point, rather like a satellite dish

It's a parabolic reflector that collects the sun's rays and concentrates the light to one point that is extremely hot.

concave and convex are curved lenses. I forget which is turned in and which is bubbled out.
