basically that a cross CPU increase.

you would have to get an Athlon XP or a Pentium 4 which neither had an 800 variant.

You'll need a new motherboard, CPU and memory.

All that extra power means you should update your hard disk to a quicker model.

Also, you may need to think about extra cooling.

Basically, an 800 is worth jack and you could get a decent 2000 for £100-£150.

If you're using word or internet and not much else, get a RAM upgrade and a ATA133 PCI card wiith new hard diisk and you'll have alll the performance you need.

Anyway, with 2D stuff you wont notiice much difference in speed between the two.

i presume you are using a pentium 3 or a amd k8 processor at the moment with a clock speed of 800mhz
you wouldnt be able to upgrade your processor without upgrading your motherboard, and for the clock speed you want it would be cheaper to build a system from scratch using your existing hard drive, graphic card, sound card, psu, optical drive
you would have to buy some new memory modules as 800mhz machines(p3 and amd)took sd-ram
you can buy a intel celeron 2.8ghz processor for £40 from http://www.misco.co.uk/,they also do some very cheap boards aswell,so with the memory you could knock up a system for less than £200
go on-give it a go..............i did a while ago
good luck

It really depends on what you're comfortable with. I personally upgraded from a Celeron 2.5ghz to a 2.0ghz Sempron and I love it. If you know what you're doing, you can get more computer for less money from places like Dell or Gateway. I paid about $570 and this is what my system looks like

Mini orange Case with 430w psu
AsRock K8NF4G-SATAII mATX board with Geforce 6100 chipset
Sempron 3400+ (2ghz w 256k)
Samsung Black 16x DVD-R/RW- CD writer Double Layer
Asus Vga 6200TC 256mb/up to 512mb Nvidia PCI-E card
Maxtor 250gb SATAII 16mb cache Harddrive
2gb PC3200 memory (DDR 400)
Windows XP Professional

That is a vast improvement from what I upgraded it to and for the price, you won't find anything like it at Gateway or Dell. But you also have to weigh I put the whole system together myself and have no tech support. So it's entirely up to you which route you want to go.

Let me know and I'd be more than happy to try to help you with any part of the process and I found all my parts here at the link.

The first thing is that you'll have to upgrade your motherboard to hold a processor of 2 ghz. If you do that, then might as well get a completely new computer.

From 800 to 2000 is not a good upgrade, just buy a new computer and add the hard drive from your current computer to your new computer as a secondary drive. so you still have your old files and programs.

you might as well just build or buy a computer with 2000mhz rather than try to "change" it.
