I think they can. The features are there but what it will need is a flashy name and some good marketing. I mean ipod is a household name.

As for the name on the site MVNO, that sounds a lot like one of the older Creative mp3 players (Muvo, i think it was).

The Ipod is very popular but it's not the best there is. I have always felt that Creative's mp3's players are much better than the Ipod's, sadly the best products don't always become the most popular ones. From the point of services available the Ipod is definitly in a much better position.

The only problem microsft will have is trying to convince people why theres is better than anyother and convincing people they actually need one. Most people I know use thier mp3 players for a while and then it becomes a white elephant, or gets given to some kid. Kids seem to use them more.

unlikely, two issues come to mind:
1. market saturation
2. lack of style of the part of MS

They will have to make it a lot more reliable and safe to use than Windows
