ehh.. not really... Socialism is about coopreating with others. Not stealing from the rich to give to the poor. Robin Hood is just reversed Capitalism really. Capitalist steal from the poor and give to the rich.
How much of the value of your labor do you actually get to keep? Very small percentage. So who gets the rest, jut for sitting around, well... those who turned the lights on right. No labor in that, just capital investment.
Socialism is about people coming together to make collective decisions for everyone, so that ultimately no one will go without. It is the Union principles, collective bargaining and action...
what has destroyed Socialism time and again is Capitalism. No one talks about that... it has been erased from history.
An honest assessment of why Stalin came to power would reveal that Socialism was destroyed by force by Capitalists abroad to keep thier reverse Robin Hood scam in place. This paved the way for a dictatorship and totalitarianism.
There are many good books on this. I might suggest reading A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn
A good start to understand the Socialist heritage in the United States.

If you're talking about the Robin Hood flick that Kevin Costner starred in, you'll have to excuse me. I was so mesmerized looking at him in tights, that I didn't really concentrate on much else. However....now that you've mentioned it, there is a similarity between the legend of Robin Hood and the Liberals.
Can we focus on those tights, now?

Robin Hood advocated stealing from the rich. I was labelled a communist and had a question removed for pointing out the similarities in Acts chapters 2 and 3 and socialism. Better watch out the Bible is subversive.

Really? Hadn't noticed [end sarcasm]. Is this supposed to be a startling discovery or something? What's your point? OBVIOUSLY Robin Hood embodies the socialist idea of the rich providing for the poor. He was also the 'good guy' in the story, I should point out.

You mean the part about where the rich king taxes the poor people so he can share it with all of his rich friends?
But if you're going to say that Robin Hood is the socialist, then who are the rich who take from the poor to give to the rich? Because I can certainly think of a good analogy...
