My surgon put silver nitrate into a tunnel from a surgical wound there was nothing in the tunnel when we left now there is like a tag hanging out. Is there anything wrong?

My husbands colan exploded last year, they went in and fixed it but had to leave the incison open. he got an abcess that ruptured and created a tunnel. it has been 6 months trying to heal this tunnel so the surgon put this silver niteate in it.

The pediatrician used silver nitrate on my daughter's belly button when she was a newborn. When the cord came off, it kind of left a spot that wasn't quite right. The silver nitrate worked very well and she has a nice belly button (and no belly button rings either).
Your surgeon probably knows what he's doing and it is probably healing. If the area is red or hot or looks infected, then see the doctor immediately. Go to ER if you need to. Especially if you have a temperature.
