Religions are created by man through his god(s). Most share a lot of similarities yet are embroiled with politics and varying cultures. How can we extrapolate the vest of all of them in search of divine truth without annihilating each other in the process?

Religion in general seams to be the link Humans have to a power that is much greater then them. The Higher Powers are perfect. Humans are not.

Sadly, we can never be completely moral no matter what. We are just human. We must ascend to another level in order to even say we can be perfect.

We are not doomed, in my opinion, because there are always people among us who strive to be moral and these people far out weigh the people of the opposite faction. Religion is like our arrow. It will polarize you with others. Even so, the best will stray sometimes.

Further more, there are many arrows. The one you follow may be on a collision course with another.

my experience is that non religious people tend to have better morals
and this was a relative answer ,that i will give to you

i have found that.pagan or socalled primative tribes that i have met in the jungle had far more morals than any Christian that i know .as well as a gracious way of treating guests and visitors,or the very polite ways they have of talking amongst each other ,reminding me of more elegant times in our own past.
as is the case in Mexico a very Christian country
they have sex out of wedlock as if there was no tomorrow
they kill to sell human body parts or over a woman, sell their babies, kidnapping is very common, and stealing is absolutely exepted if not expected.

and in the USA,they kill people far away ,and plan to kill millions more ,with the coming battle for the new world order. The leaders have discussed at closed Bilderburg meetings that they plan to lower the world population by 60%.this can only be done with sophisticated mass killing.
and most wars in the past have been because of Christians or Muslims.always for money or power.
they preach love and peace.and war is the method
In the past , Christians were famous for torture, and burning people alive ,the persecutions of Europe,Spanish inquisition, Mary Tudor, the crusades, the conquering of Africa,Asia and the Americas
having killed alot of indigenous peoples into extinction and forcebly converted the survivers, having stolen all their gold,as well as diminishing a lot of wildlife .

destruction of forests in the path of greedy irresponsible unsustaining agriculture.killing land and turning it into desserts, but this is from all kinds of other cultures as well .

the strongest morals tends to comes from people who make their own .
without a central authority like God or the Government
these morals come from within and are unshakeble.
the dutch youth can be an example,in a country that has everything to offer in drugs and sexuality.
the majority of kids are boringly conservative ,considdering Coka Cola evil. And any kind of religion in Holland is rare.

christians do not have faith in Humanity this way .and feel the need of a god to regulate them ,because they are afraid of what is with in themselves ,and what atrocities they may get up to ,
with out the religion to control them

other people do not have this problem ,do not need to be threatened with an imaginary hell ,
they know what is good and what is bad, somehow instinctively and go by what their parents taught them.

out of Chaos comes a strict order
in the bushes and in civalization.
without the mentioned religions

Even if there was no religion, man will still have an excuse to hate themselves and go to war. If all man truly followed their set of religion by the letter there would be greater understanding, but they'll never get there.

Morality is a decision based on your belief. Religion is a poorly used generic term that has very little meaning. The One who established the laws of the universe set the standard, people doom themselves based on their decisions according to these laws.

Better to be moral without religion. Religion, as you point out, leads to sectarian violence and centuries-long grudges. Atheists have some blood on their hands, sure, but they've never started a Crusade.

Though it is not without it's own layers of phychosis. Buddhism is a religion that is designed to teach the follower how to think and not so much what to think. That I believe is the crux of the matter, in conjunction with it's admonishments of ego and worldy desires!

let the weaker reach to the hands of the purest. and let the blinded lead the blinded. together they live their lives happy. its important to create a higher being. if not then your ego will inflate would set a new revolution on politics, government etc for the "mass" movement for the future.

I don't believe a religion can keep people moral - a person must keep themselves moral and a religion, or philosophy, or upbringing, can bring about that morality.

Religion is a set of ideas - it can't be depended upon to keep man moral. Only man can keep him/herself moral, and man's imperfect.

Whatever religion might say, it is ultimately interpreted by people, and people are notorious for hearing what they want to hear and twisting things to suit their point of view.
