Despite what the "psyche" students would have you think, Freud didn't have the answer for everything.
If you've had a dry period in your life, the likely explanation would be an underlying medical condition. Possibly a bladder or kidney infection....both easily treatable.
It may be simply that you're having too much to drink before bedtime, especially if you're extremely tired, or intoxicated. Both states in which your body may simply not want to wake itself up out of its much needed rest.
Either way, you should see your doctor about this problem. Especially if you've noticed any kind of discharge, or burning sensation while urinating.

I totally agree with the "virus twins" Iris and Cyrus! Bedwetting is a sign of fixation at an earlier psychosexual stage and may lead to paraphilias (unnatural sexual fantasies) if left untreated. In the 1st 4-7 years of life, we go through the oral, anal, & urethral (AKA phallic) stages in the "infancy period of libido" according to Sigmund Freud. Then in the years between the start of school and the onset of puberty, our libido enters the "latency period" where non-sexual learning is pretty much all that should take place. Psychosexual maturity is achieved when every part of our superego has reached the genital stage, and unless the id is holding you back with fixations (unresolved conflicts in earlier stages), this means heterosexual attractions (with vaginal orgasm for women). But when the id (the crude part of a person that wants to kill a horse when hungry) dominates the superego (idealistic part that always wants what's moral), such behaviors as bedwetting may be a sign that the subconcious wants to return to a much earlier stage in order to resolve some conflict you may have had at that time. You should consult a therapist to see how you can resolve whatever conflict has prevented you from fully blossoming into the adult you want to be. If you are unable to resolve the conflict, you may have to sublimate the desires you have by doing something that makes you happy enough to sleep in peace at night.

Iris, you're a genius! I totally hate my dad! When I was a little boy as old as 7 or 8, I can remember Mom telling him to bathe or wipe me at times when we'd be going someplace that I had to wear nice clothes. She was such a clean freak that she didn't want skidmarks on my best undies nor could she have me stinking even enough for a bloodhound to detect my scent! But as innocent as she thought it was for him to help me like that, I now know who to blame for the fact that although girls like me and all, I'm talkative, sensitive, narcistic, and feel arroused by the sight of a dick bigger than mine.

Oh f uck all of the last three answers.
Just because you wet the bed doesn't mean something happened that involves being a lesbian, afterall how could it possibly connect to anything sexual. F uck Sigmund Freud.
My advice would be to go see a doctor.

I assume you're either a guy or a lesbian. I believe that if a girl wets the bed she is most likely to turn out gay. You know why? Because I never wet the bed in my life and I STILL became a lesbian, so what chance does a BEDWETTER have of not being tempted by a nice, sexy, female budonkadonk? I've always thought that part of the reason I turned out gay (especially after reading Freud's books) is because I wasn't trained until 2.5+ and remember my mother changing me. Then, as a child, she continued to clean me at God-awful ages (I've never washed out a pair of panties in my life cuz even my period stains were hers to deal with). So because of all this, I'm attracted to older women with whom I feel a "maternal bond." Boys whose fathers have an active role in their potty-training/wiping/bathing for longer than normal will also have an increased risk for becoming homosexual -- they may always want that special guy to wipe their butt. If you're a woman, then perhaps if you spoke with a therapist and came to grips with your sexuality the wetting would stop because it can be caused by stress. If you're a man, then perhaps you're still in puberty, like maybe your voice didn't change until you were 17 or 18?

Have you had any dreams with water in them? That could be the answer. Don't drink water at night. If you haven't you could see a doctor and get some more medication. Or are you excited about something? Think about it.

I completely sympothize, i didnt stop wetting the bed until i was 25. Here is my story, you may or may not be able to relate or apply this, but at least you will have comforte in knowing your not alone. I tryed the medications through out my life, i also had test run by doctors to check my bladder which turned out fine. IF your situation is simular to how mine was, there was nothing physically wrong with my body, yet i continued to wet the bed. I couldnt spend the nite at friends houses as a child, it was frusterating and shameful for me. My background: i was molested when i was 3yrs old by my next door neighbor, and my parents where told by child theropists that i would not remember it. UNfortunatly i have always been able to remember everything about that horrible day. It didnt help that i was molested again by a differant neighbor when i was 5yrs old and 7yrs old. I used to have nightmares as a child, but from t adolesence to adulthood i dont recall having them. I grew up in a good family with loving parent, and i was raised in a babtist home and always followed my parents rules in respect to them, but a few years ago i met my now fiance at my place of work. When we started dating i would never stay over in fear of wetting the bed. I eventually told him about my problem and he said he loved me and wanted me to stay over. The first nite i barley slept, i was so afraid of wetting the bed, but it didnt happen! Days went by into months. We moved in together, and were engaged last dec. My theory is this, the men who molested me took away my innocence as a child and instilled fear and shame in me. As i slept at nite i was vulnerable, maybe subconciously i felt unprotected because my parents were unable to protect me when it happen. When i stayed/moved in with my fiance he gave me a sense of security, a peace that i could sleep with out fear. Its been almost 3 yrs since ive wet the bed. Maybe you had a event in your life that keeps you from peace/security at nightime, where you would be vulnerable? i hope ive helped, at the least in knowing your not alone in your circumstance. good luck
