The water goes down the drain in the same direction, the persons looking at it from different positions see different things. The one who is above the water (in the north) sees it counterclockwise. The one in the Southern hemisphere sees the water go clockwise.
If you put two persons, one in the North pole, one in the South pole and asked them to tell you which way the Earth was spinning one would say clockwise the other counterclockwise, but it is only spinning in one direction.
(one hour later)
I did a bit of checking and learned something new. Water goes down toilets and everything else in any direction any where, it depends more on the shape of the toilet and the direction the water flows out of the tank.

Sigh! Sorry people, but this is a myth.
The coriolis force is real and has caused a lot
of trouble for old time navies shooting at each other
over large distances, but it is not strong
enough over the small latitude change over the
length of your toilet bowl to affect the direction of
flow. The circling is more dependent on local sources,
like levelness of floor, direction and velocity of water
coming from various places, etc.

Because they're in the Southern Hemisphere, and the Coriolis Force works in the opposite circular direction from the Northern Hemisphere.

This is a serious answer, I'm not just here for the 2 points. Did you know that if you move your finger in the water you can make the water spin the other way? Try it, then wash your hands and you can try it again.
