Princess Leia...her mother, Amidala is too sappy and sentimental a character. Leia, however, is more willing to put herself in danger's way. If you are a girl that love romantic and tragic heroines, though, then you'll like Amidala better. Besides, in Episode I, her makeup look horrid.

The only reason anyone would pick Padme over Leia is her looks. Padre is prettier But, Leia is a better character and is attractive. I always say that Natlie Portman is prettier than Carrie Fisher But Leia is definitely sexier than Padme.

I love Natalie Portman, like, if I had a child, and it was a girl, I would want Natalie Portman to be my kid. Seriously, I have seen or own all of her movies EXCEPT this character.
BUT Leia was a better character overall. The big difference between the two sets of trilogies is the characters .... the old ones acted well with each other. The new ones were all stiff and so refined and careful.
Also, Leia was so hot in that bikini. She was graceful, powerful, free willed, spirited, and a babe. I wanted to be her.

Leia all the way! she actually does stuff, and Carrie fisher was a great actress all the way through the series, whereas Natalie portman didn't do a very good job in the first movie.
Leia takes charge of situations, and occasionally kicks butt!

Leia, she never would have rolled over and died after she had two children because she "had nothing to live for," Leia kicked butt and took names -- she didn't need a man, but she did have great taste in them, I'd take that scuffy-looking nerfherder any day!
Amidala took off her face paint and lost her spine in the process. Besides, she robbed the cradle...a fourteen year-old crushing after a nine year-old...ewwwwwwwwwwwww...

Leia never loses her edge, her tomboyish ways. Padme, not a sucker in her own right, had a weakness and that was Vadar. Leia would not have stood for Solo acting up like Anakin did.
