First calculate the area of the room. This is

10ft x 12 ft = 120 sq ft

Now divide the square footage of the room by the total square footage 120/1420 = 0.0845

Multiply this by 100 = 8.45

This is the percentage of the total area, 8.45%

Hope this helps.

Mutliply your 10 X 12 to get the total square footage of that particular room. (120) Then divide the 120 by the total square feet of the house 1420. =120/1420=.08 then multiply =.08*100=8 which gives you your answer of 8%. Hope this helps.

Step 1: Calculate the area of the room: 10 x 12 = 120
Step 2: Write a proportion: 120/1420 = x/100
(The formula is: Is/Of = %/100)
Step 3: Get "x" standing alone: 120(100)/1420 = x
Step 4: Solve: 8.45 = x

The room is 8.45% of the house.

Another way to do it: 120/1420 = .0845
Move the decimal 2 places to the right: 8.45%

You take 1420 sq feet and multiply it by 20%. To get the area of the room you just multiply 10 X 12. Compare your answers. If the room figure is less than the 20% you figured than it is not 20% of your house. Just by looking at it the room isn't 20% of the house

Well if your house is 1420 sq ft and your office is 120 sq ft then divinding the 2 (120/1420) gives you 8.45 %.

most likely a three and one half ton would do the job....what you need to have done is a heat- cool analysis...what this does is calculates how well your home and garage is insulated how many doors and windows would lose or gain heat or cool whether they are double pane or not and what directions the longest side of your home faces that has the most windows and doors...4 tons would be more than enough to handle what you need and for the price they quoted on the trane unit and the warranty trane offers ...that is the one i would get....trane is a very good unit and ten years parts and labor is hard to beat..
