Drug addiction is a disease. Speaking from experience, a person that is ashamed, scared, or sick of their life tends to want to get high. Its a reality escape. I knew that when I abused drugs i was doing something wrong. But I couldnt deal with what i was. I had to make the decision, after I lost control and lost everything, to take my sanity back. It still is the hardest thing I choose to do. I hate reality but I have to learn to stop being a coward and deal with it.

a lot of persons get trapped in drugs beacause they first want to experiment, they want to know how does it feel, maybe they like it because it gets them into another consciousness level that permits them think, act and enjoy some activities more than in normal state of conscience. Like Marihuana for example, it gets you to a high level and makes you be more alert, aware of everything around you, your hearing system gets sharped and enjoy music way more than in normal state and so on.. the bad thing is when the person uses synthetical drugs and present a physical dependence. some people use drugs as a reality evasion, but it's not always. some people take them just because they like the feeling.

I think that drugs offers an escape out of the this current illusionary reality for those who have troubles coping. But it is also just an experience that a week spirit needs to overcome. As a participant in the game of life we all have some sort of issue to overcome and learn from, drugs just happens to be one of many.

Well, there is the social aspect that it is done because everyone else does it. Then there is the one that they want to stop feeling or thinking for a short while. Or the one that they just like the feeling of not really being in control. Everyone claims they have different reasons for why they use drugs but in reality it is because they want to.

it's the gut wrenching need to escape this reality, you see! everyone has a past and everyone handles their pain differently and their joy. extreme is prevalent in both cases. the happy medium is seldom enjoyed by the vast majority of folks including myself.

So you are referring to recreational drug use?
The answer is simple, they do it for the high. Because it feels good.
Kind of like having sex, or whacking off.
