I am not believer in Ancestral Guilt.
People that are alive today were not alive when total war waged on Native Americans.
or
During Slave Days.
Or Jim Crow days ...some of them left..

But nobody ...except for octogenarians from Jim Crow Days,
is responsible for these events...they're all dead.

Its like a forty year old German commenting on the genocide in Darfur and then somebody asks him where he gets off commenting on such things when the Third Reich did worse.

But still....
Whats the hue and cry?
it's
What America gonna do about this?
And, Whats America gonna do about that.
And nobody wants to do nuthin unless there's a U.S.NAVY Battlegroup standing by.

Thats historically. Those we're people of that time, and these are people of THIS time. Somebodies gotten straighten out some of this mess. "americans" is just a label. We are all people on ONE plannet. Somebody has to help the suffering. However i do agree with you. You make a good point. And i can add to that, we are worried about the "wrong doings" in other countries when we have it in out own country. There are a couplke different ways to look at it...i guess.

Because America, for the most part, seems to be one of the few nations on earth to have it's head screwed on straight. We don't get everything right, and sometimes I think we should do more - like in Darfur, but it's better then just standing around and doing nothing or playing the appeasement game. It didn't work against Hitler and it won't work against Islamofacists.

Before I answer your question, I must state that there is a major inaccuracy within the question. Americans never enslaved the black people, they purchased the slaves from the Dutch who in turn purchased the slaves from the African kings who were the ones that enslaved the black people.

But to answer your question, we shouldn't be the world police.

It's called progress, times change. Take a look at the horrific past of Europe. If they were in the position of the US, would you then attack them based on what happened in their history?

We don't feed people to lions anymore, we don't impale them, we don't crucify them. We also don't have slaves and we don't steal land. Why do so many people live in the past anyway?

The thing is........ with all the serious world affairs going on lately, that we all should be concerend about....... the War, N Korea, etc..... I get so sick and tired of you people belly aching about the past!

We cant change the past, only whats done in the present and future is what matters, so get over it, already!
