We are 25-27, own our house, make very good money, been married for a year and together for 6 years. I'm worried about the health risks of child birth on me and our child.

Don't bring a child into the world by choice unless both parents want it.

It's that simple. Tell him why you want a child now, and let him think about it for a couple of months. (FYI: no one is ever financially ready for a child.) Men hate to be rushed and nagged. Just pushing the idea may be turning him off of it.

Then listen to his reasons why you should wait, and really hear what he has to say. Try to let your love and respect for him as a man drown out your biological clock. His reasons may be valid.

Once you have children, you have them for a lifetime. If you're not in your mid-thirties, there's no rush.

You want your husband to think of his children as a blessing, not a burden, and certainly not as a trap.

Wow....why would you want to force an issue? If you can't wait, then I suggest being up front with him. You can't convince someone of something they aren't ready for. If you push the issue too hard, be prepared for it to back fire. Tread softly and make sure you REALLY want to push this issue.

The last thing you want is a baby with a man who doesn't want to be a father. Wait till he's ready and willing.

how old are you? what is the rush for kids? how long been married?
you and your husband need to talk about it more, cant convince him, you both have to agree. its a human being that both of you will have responsibility for.
just keep talking to him. my husband said the 2year thing also, and now its been 16yr.
he even got a 'little" upset when I got fixed because I was 40yr. and he still said we could "talk" about it in 2yr.
so keep talking to him.

Just wait for it. 2 years is not a long time.
