meh...people just get offended too easily. Everyone believes in freedom of speech so long as you are saying what they want you to say..both sides are guilty of it. However, we also need to remember the choice part of freedom of speech. You can say whatever you want...i can choose not to listen. I can stop buying a product because someone said something i disagree with. That doesn't violate free speech, it works into the capitalist system. You can say whatever you want, but you have to be willing to accept the political, or economical consequences to what you say. That's our biggest problem today.

Honestly! There are actually two reasons. The first is freedom is a double edged sword. Your freedom to say what you is countered by anther persons freedom not to have to listen. And most people don’t want to have to listen to anything outside of what they know and believe.
Second, your freedom to say what you want and not be criticized or offend anyone is becoming more difficult because more and more people today are becoming paranoid. Not that they think something is out to get them but because they can’t understand why “terrorist” would inflict the pain and suffering as they do because they can’t think the way a zelot would. Therefore anything different…ie your opinions on homosexuality or politics scare them because they are different. And that is society as a whole. The proof is in our entertainment … look at what they would do if an alien landed.

I ask myself this all the time. Ever notice the way the NY Times is being looked down upon. All they did was do something that we all do:write what they wanted to write. Since when is that against the law? and with those topics you mentioned:
war:against it
homosexuality:for it
abortion:against it (unless it affects the mother's health)
These are my opinions and I can decide which way I want to view things. Anyone that doesn't like it, go to another country where they're not allowed to have freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech is, just what it is........ FREEDOM of SPEECH.....
And YES, you can talk about anything you want, as for the War, everyone has their own individual thoughts on it, and not everyone will agree with everyone! And if you hit a nerve with the homos, that means they know deep down its wrong! If you hit a nerve about abortion, those who have had one deep down know they are murderers!!
Soo, will my comments offend someone???? Maybe, but, its my comment, because I have freedom of speech! Remember, they all get negative responses too!
So, if you want to say something, don't hold back, you are just entitled to your own opinion as the next person..

I would say it is because most people try and push off there opinion as fact. Example: We found 500 WMD's in Iraq. A liberal will tell you they "used to be" WMD's but now they are not because they are partially degraded. Abortion, can I tell a woman what to do with her body? Can I call her a murderer for having a third trimester abortion?
Remember freedom of speech has its limits, you can not yell "FIRE" in a crowded theater if there is no fire. Some people take it to far underminding our president and our troops.

What ever made you think there was freedom of speech in Jesus's time?
If you are refering to comments made in this forum, then you are describing a very nearly pure form of freedom of speech. You objection suggests that once you have had your say, no one ELSE better say anything that disagrees with youl
Freedom of Speech cannot be one sided. If you are afraid of offending, then perhaps you'd better censor yourself.

It's called "mob mentality." Generally, whenever a group of people side with some debate, the rest follows. But speak up! Everybody would like to hear what you have to say and if anything, at least one person will gain knowledge about a subject from someone else's point of view.

Why does the minority want to force the majority to live by it's ideals and standards? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
As far as talking, that isn't a problem, never has been. It's when during the debate vicious name calling begins that people tend to personally censor people. And that is their right.

People have lost their respect for democracy. Both sides are to blame, although I think that it's the Christian right that has really ratcheted up the level of hatred to the point of near civil war.
Beware the Reborns!

Their is still freedom of speech, you can say anything the lib's agree with to your hearts content. But don't you dare, speak your mind if you are conservative, then freedom of speech is completely disregarded.
