No, no, no...in each movie there was just a different type. The first one was a drone, it is there to protect the hive and do some building up and to take care of the injured ones.
In the second movie, Aliens, these were warriors and you only get them when there is a hive with a queen.
In the third movie it is a warrior but since it came from a dog, it inherited some of its characteristics.
In Alien ressurection, the aliens were a bit different and more intelligent because of the genetic crossing between Ripley and the Queen, so they inherited more human characteristics such as a bit different look and intelligence.

With each movie getting more publicity and more money spent on the cast and crew, the Aliens quite fancy themselves as Divas these days and demand a better make up artist with every new movie.
Their list of demands also includes:
Botox injections twice every week
200 red tulips placed in their dressing room
A personal masseur (randy buggers)
Both a pedicure and a manicure followed by a bottle of champers before filming begins.
You see, the Aliens are so high maintainance these days!

The aliens in Alien and Aliens are the same! In the 3rd one it's host was not a human, it was the dog that's why they ran faster on all fours. It takes the form of its host. Alien 4, who the hell knows why they were so damn slimy.

Probably because each of the film directors who made the alien films wanted their "creations" to be unique, and different than everybody else. Thats the only explaination I can think of.

They are different because they take on the charecteristics of the people they prey on,(on different planets their eggs hatch in different aliens) so evolve in different ways in one of the films one of them kills a dog, so there's a bit of dog in the mix! Apart from that film makers can't help but mess about with things.
