You've been fed a load of bull.
This is referred to as "crackpot science"

Perhaps we should call it "crack-rock science", because you'd have to smoke crack-rocks to believe this.
Still, the plasma sabers are pretty cool, if a rip-off, but cool nonetheless.

Dude, I read stuff like that all the time...and it is called fiction. Which book was it? Sounds cool man! I love the way they come up with these names. It looks like as if they just randomly pick 2-3 scientific sounding words and put them togther like the flux capacitor in Back to the Future and this hyperdimensional resonator.

You were reading fiction or fantasy.
1) There is no such thing as a hyperdimensional resonator (let's call it a HDR).
2) Even if such a thing existed and allowed us to move forward in time, you can't move backward in time. Anyone who went to 2012 would not be able to return and so couldn't tell us what they found.

How could they use a hyperdimensional resonator when I am projecting an anti-resonance field over all of the hyperdimensions? I know my ARF generator works so I think your lying. let me check... yeah the readings on my pangalactic fact oscillator proves you're making this up.
What's that pangalactic fact oscillator? Yes I know I am the greatest, but lets not tell the others I don't want them to feel bad.

First, the HDR work was largely theoretical. Second, it wasn't specifically calibrated to scan for life, there could've been lots of reasons why it wasn't registering.Third, there could still be "life" that just didn't show up on the scan- single celled organisms or extraterrestrial life that the HDR wasn't programmed for.
A trial run is always going to produce iffy results. I wouldn't panic.
But say there IS no life 2012. That may just mean we left earth, ala "SERENITY". And even if it was all dead, that still gives you a few good years. Think of all the stuff you can do between now and then. Don't panic.

ive never heard of a hyperdimensional resonator,, but i dont doubt that there will be no life in 2012 by the way we as humans are today..

Don't worry
I used a superhyperdimensional resonator and went back to 1968 and assassinated a few key people. I returned to May of 2006 and no life was found.
So, you can't possibly be worrying about this.

I read in the same tabloid that Elvis got an alien 14 year old pregnant and the Alain father kidnapped him and forced him in to a laser riffle wedding with his daughter.

Don't believe everything you read, particularly on the Internet. I guess that applies to my answer to your question. However, there is one difference: I am not making any extraordinary claims and I am not selling you anything.

It was only looking for intelligent life. Couldn't find any in 2006 either.
