I do that and it still says oops...same thing? any ideas

Possibly your cookies are disabled. They store information on your computer when you log on, that Yahoo will connect to. Click on tools > Internet Options > Privacy... the best setting is probably medium. If you click on advanced you can tell if the browser is managing or over-riding your cookie controls.

Another option is us firefox as your browser. It's generally more stable than internet explorer and has lots of funky extra features (like tabbed browsing. just hold down the control key when you click on a link and the new link will open up in a new tab at the top of your screen.)
