Yeah, depends on you, too. I've had quite a few of both. I always prefer theorists because I think cutting edge stuff is more fun--like thinking about new ways to do things that are hard to prove/disprove. Practical application, on the other hand, is rather dull for me. But if I'm studying something that I need to actually do I'd rather have the practitioner for an instructor.

depends on class. probably practitioner. have not had a great theorist for a teacher. his ideas were kind of out there in outer space.
