Most of it is where you go. Most upper class people don't go to the mall to make friends; most upper class people don't go to public schools and make friends with lower class people. If you hang out where lower class people are you'll make friends. Otherwise, there's no chance of it happening.

There's nothing strange about this. As a wealthy person, you most likely live in a nice neighborhood in an upscale home. Your neighbors are all in the same boat. You probably work with people in the same boat economically as you. You probably frequent nicer restaurants and do more expensive activities that poorer folks can't do.

Besides, it's perfectly natural for you to want to hang around people with similar people who have similar interests and activities.

Prometheus is right though, because under communism, everyone would be poor, so the poor wouldn't have anyone else to mingle with, except the fellow poor people. Communism isn't about enriching people, it's about punishing the successful and spreading the misery around.

Well many wealthy people feel that middle class and poor people are below them.

Plus upper classes mindset is so very different. You can't really relate to the problems of people who struggle to make ends met. You have to worry about wether you can afford the newest benz poor people have to worry about whether or not they can afford to go to the doctor. Those two classes are on different planes.

It's all about your comfort zone.. People tend to stay within their own.. Think about it..Your friends are the people whom you have most in common with.. music, food, clothes, sports. If you are an avid Rolling Stones fan at 2k a ticket who else would you go with besides someone at your economic level.

Money tends to hang with money because hanging with a lesser economic crowd makes them feel guilty for their wealth. And to be sure, they will deny it but... I assure you that it's true. I've been on both sides of this fence.
