Anyone who can get past that problem will live a very happy life. My dad told me when I was young something that has helped me my entire life:
Do you like everyone that you meet? (Answer is no, of course.) Then why should everyone that you ever meet like you?
It's really that simple. You must realize that when other people don't like you, it's a reflection on THEM, not you.

Humans are gregarious by nature. We (especially women), need to be in the company of others. For this reason it makes sense to try and get along with the group as much as possible to avoid the worst possible of outcomes, being ostracized. Shudder. Devoid of human contact is maddening to most people. This is one reason I keep all my imaginary friends close by. Stepping out to be an individual is a very scary thought to the vast majority of our species. Most equate being different as being alone or worse thrown in with a bunch of weirdos. lol Well let me tell you this much..My new weirdo friends are terrific!!! Come on and join us..You might like the you that you have been hiding.

I believe it's prebuilt into our subconscious minds to behave that way, or have a strong inclination to. Atleast in youth. What other people think always feels more powerful than what you yourself think. Until you form a strong sense of egotism and personality. With that comes confidence and opinion, and then with that form of self esteem handy, you'll grow into a person more likely to follow their own will than the will of others. Not in all cases, i'm afraid.

I learned a long time ago that it is none of my business what others think of me. I do care, though for some reason.

I don't .... insecure personalities worry about their image.. oddly enough what kind of impression you make on people becomes less important as you age.

we care because word spreads fast, if some one doesn't like you guaranteed at the end of the day that peson will convince at least two more people not to like you... and they can make your life pretty miserable.
