The song was about negro slaves in the 1800's taking advantage whilst their master was away.

Jimmy cracked corn and I don't care
Jimmy cracked corn and I don't care
Jimmy cracked corn and I don't care
The master's gone away.

Cracking corn means opening a bottle of rye whiskey which Jimmy does when the master is away and as they all partake of it they all get drunk. That's why they don't care. Of course when the master returns they'll all be whipped but as anyone who has been drunk knows your problems seem to disappear in an alcoholic haze of euphoria. Unfortunately when you sober up they are still there and probably worse than before.

maximum folk songs not in any respect make sense. a useless ringer for that "Turkey interior the Straw" music. Or "John Jacob Jinglehemier Schmidt (l. a. l. a. l. a. l. a. l. a. l. a. l. a.)". Our ancestors were unusual people. And had way too a lot time on their palms. i'm curious if the Amish actual sing any of those songs.

If there was never a song about it... there would never be an awesome episode of Futurama, in which Bender get wet and he tries to be a folk singer.
