Hmm...you have an amazing point. I am really fond of this apply today's logic to situations in the past. It really makes you think.
however, a massive casualty loss isn't really a bad thing. massive casualties are bad, but losing casualties (losses in war) is like a double negative that would mean we lost all the dead and wounded.

The casualties had on D-Day were well within reasonable expectations so there is no cute little sny point to make here. There was a clear and present danger, and a clear cause to assert in WW2.
The current situational mis-adventure invented by the real Boy George, has no clear cut point of reference or value to the American People!
As for getting stuck in the mud, es, and that was reported clearly and honestly in WW2and with out half the censureship that exists today!

I have a hard time buying the comparison between Iraq and an an invasion of a Imperial superpower bent on world domination in the middle of a worldwide war, but I bet alot of yer buddies would swallow that bs down and ask for more. But even though your weak attempt at a point holds no water, I do completely agree that we need to stay the course and complete the mission, even though it does little good for America in the end, when Iraq is surrounded by countries with way more support for terrorism, but hey some people like to make believe like once we prevail in Iraq, we win the war against Islamic extremists, I sure would love to believe that, and I guess I can see why some people do, it makes them feel safe, I guess ignorance is bliss. Anyways, ya gotta finish what you started, even though the reasons for starting it were foolish in a time of war against terrorism. But hey facts don't really matter to alot of people so people will believe whatever makes them feel good, I on the other hand like to believe in reality. Let me just add tht back then, there were people who were even against us entering WWII after Pearl Harbor. and the newspapers did'nt all of a suddenly turn commie and stop reporting news, it's just people had a better sense that our action in the war would help us and the world, but you do'nt have that type of support for this war now, to a lot of people it does'nt and never did make any sense, just because you disagree with them does'nt mean they don't exist. You never had some fiasco where our government said that Hitler had massive stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction and then they changed their minds and said it was to free the Iraqis and then they said it was to stop terrorism. I think if our leaders had screwed with our citizens that bad back then, yo would have had a lot more people that had suspicion towards the motives behind the war. But in WWII, the evidence was all there, all you had to do was read a newspaper or watch a newsreel, Hitler and his allies conquered massive parts of Europe and Asia and was a severe threat to the US if left unchecked, not to mention Pearl Harbor, but hey to you guys, thats the same as Saddam who threatened Kuwait ten years ago and had a "massive stockpile" of inert mustard gas and a few shells of sarin, ooooh , yeah I'm sure the world was just quakin in our boots.

If FDR had pulled out, we'd probably be speaking German right now. I think people then still had a sense of duty to one's country, unlike most people today.

Probably France will be speaking German, with Italy, and rest of the Europeans, That's why France hates America, they wanted to speak German and kiss butts, while thousands of ours boys die in Normandy, for their fuc...ing country.

Good point. Perhaps people were braver then...before the war protests of the Viet Nam era started this whole, "No, man, war is just bad, no matter what it's for, let's go protest now!"
