So sorry! I'm 41 and lovin' it! I feel more confident that ever - I know who I am and what I will and (more importantly...) WON'T put up with. I'm comfortable in my skin finally! I hope things start looking up for you!

Ready to pack it in at 40? Wow...sorry to hear that. I think for some it changes in a major way. You're wayyyyy out of your "Good God I messed up so much it's a miracle I made it" 20's & your recovering from your "let me see how much success I can cram into five years" 30's. LOL I'd say yes, a different phase of life begins at 40. Maybe you "lived" it up the whole while and don't really feel like putting in the effort to straighten some things out at 40 that alot of us are straightening out in our 30's. I dunno??

Why? 40 is the new 30. Look at the Desperate Housewives.
Get going on a goal. Lose some weight. Plan a vacation. Something to focus on.

I'm not 40 yet but will be at end of the month..... I don't feel forty or anywhere near it! I have a partner, two teenage sons, I'm at uni doing a degree course and I work part time and I can honestly say that even though I'm skint most of the time I enjoy my life every day.
Maybe you need to make some changes in your life, look at what you would like to be doing, who you would like to be spending time with and make it happen! good luck

TRUE . when you are forty you look into life with more depth and maturity,you are not attached to bright things from the outside anymore,your choices and decidsions are more balanced,and so are your emotions and thoughts..40 is the nicest age to love and to be loved,and also it is the proper age to settle down what you have been running and struggling for years ago..enjoy it,it's a start,never the end..

I disagree...I think life begins when you pass the "i don't give a crap" stage..and start working towards the many goals one has in life...to say life begins at forty sound like 40 wasted years to me...

why pack it in...you have the rest of your life in front of you. im almost 48 and have enjoyed my life since being 40 more than i did before. i met my second husband who has only just reached 40,8 years ago and i have found a job that i love and i have my first grandchild and ........

I wish I was 15 so I can be old enough to get a job. When I'm 40 I'll be a world famous ( dun dun dun DUUUUN) Second grade teacher!!
