Taken as a pejorative, I would agree with some of the no-talent singers your previous answerers have already named. But being honest with myself, I have to acknowledge the fact that studio-enhancement can produce some wonderful sounds, particularly with regard to the human voice.

So, stipulating that I mean this in the best possible way, I would have to name Enya, the beautiful Irish songstress whose entire CD catalogue I happen to own. I really love her voice, as it is as ethereal as it is beautiful. But the truth is that her production values are top of the line and her vocal tracks are recorded literally hundreds of times over to produce the lush, even sublime, effect you hear when listening to her music.

An excellent question and one which I've answered (almost painfully) honestly. Enya fans, pray don't attack me now in her defense as I happen to be one of her biggest fans. I am just answering an honest question as objectively as possible. Full stop.

I think Aretha is correct on that. Britney is one sexy girl and she can dance very fine, but her singing is not very good at all. I would classify Britney as an entertainer, definitely not a singer. In any event, if Aretha does not move a person....I feel sorry for them.

YES!!! makeshift101 is TOTALLY right!! All singers that are in the "charts" are horribly fake!!! Ashlee Simpson and her sister, Coldplay who Ive heard live and sound like drowning cats! Anyone who has the EGO to sign to a mainstream lable is bound to be less than deserving of any fame!

You know them by whether they can perform in concert live, without their voices dubbed. ----how pathetic.

You know, I went to a few concerts recently of performers who were very famous, one an 80's and the other a 60's 70's band. Their voices were so spectacular, so much talent. So much is manufactured and disingenuous today--so much crap, I fear that the youth of today will have absolutely no taste in music at all, they won't be able to tell junk from genius.
