I have not had my period yet and I keep having these cramps. I just keep telling my self I am getting these cramps because I am going to have my peroid. Is it normal to get a lot of cramps before my peroid? How long does this go on for?

Yeah it's normal... not all girls get bad cramps, but for those of us (myself included) who do it sucks. Try taking some Aleve and curling up in bed with a heating pad on your abdomen... try and relax and take deep breaths. If you get them real bad and feel nausious try a cold wash cloth on you forehead... My cramps usually subside after the first day of my period... but everyone's different. If yours are really too bad to handle talk to your doctor, he/she might be able to put you on something. Sometimes girls who have really bad cramps go on birth control to help even out their hormones... but that's not a really good idea if you're just first getting your period. Give it some time, after a couple months you'll know what to expect. Mark on your calander the day you got your period and the day it ended... there should be about 28 days between periods... (maybe not at first, but it'll even out) that way you'll know about when to expect the cramps so they won't suprise you.

Yes its very normal but if you've never had it before you may want to check with a Dr.And it also depends on how long has it been since you've had your last period or if that is normal for your cycle. It takes several questions to answer that example your age,any kids previous problems, better to get checked.

Cramping can start up to 2 days or more before you actually start. But, it might be wise to take a pregnancy test is you are sexually active

If you are sexually active, that is one of the first signs of pregnancy. When I found out I was pregnant, I was like 2 months along because I just kept thinking that I would get my period.
