COUNTY not COUNTRY. I didn't misspell it. Thanks to the people that said Cheshire.

I am asking this in the UK section; so I'm probably going to be talking about a UK county. Thanks to everyone, though!

I well know that England is not a county - I live there! Right: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Island make up the United Kingdom; a collection of countries all ruled by the same Queen, but some have different parliaments. They belong to a group of islands, along with a country not part of this - Ireland, called great Britain. Each country has within it different counties, and these different counties are different from each other; they all have different characteristics (compare Suffolk to Derbyshire), and they are particularly useful for the postal service.
So, now you all know what a British county is. And thanks to the people that already did.

Which Manchester are you talking about? New Hampshire? England? By the way England is not a county, it's a country. Manchester, England is in the county of Manchester. Manchester, NH is in HIllsborough County.
The best "footie" (soccer) team comes from Manchester and is Manchester United or ManU for short. If you haven't been to either area they are both very beautiful and completely different.

Region: North West England
Ceremonial county: Greater Manchester
Traditional county: Lancashire, part in Cheshire

It used to be in Lancashire until 1974 when new counties were defined and old ones abolished by the Labour Government of the time under Harold Wilson. Why they interfered with a system that had worked for hundreds of years I'll never know. We lost ancient counties like Rutland and Middlesex and gained those like 'Tyne and Wear, 'North Yorkshire', 'Merseyside' and 'Greater Manchester'. Manchester is now in 'Greater Manchester' as am I but most of us would rather still be in Lancashire. Manchester is not, and never was, in Cheshire.
