Doing 6-10 rounds of surya namaskar (sun salutations) is recommended in Ayurveda for excess kapha, or for those who need to lose weight.

Surya namaskar is a more rigorous sequence, so it is not considered an easy yoga stretch.

If you want to increase your metabolism, doing seated forward bends such as janu sirsasana (head to knee forward bend) and paschimottanasana (intense west stretch), and doing spinal twists such as bharadvajasana, marichyasana and parsva virasana will stimulate your abdominal organs and improve digestion.

Sarvangasana (shoulderstand) will stimulate the thyroid and parathyroid glands, which controls your metabolism.

Unless you are an intermediate or advanced student, please do not attempt sarvangasana without the supervision of a qualified yoga teacher.

You can find these poses in a yoga book (I recommend "Light on Yoga" by BKS Iyengar) or go to www.yogajournal.com and click on "poses".
