When you get home, sit down next to him (without looking at him so he doesn't feel under a microscope) and just tell him the truth. Let him know about the vast quantity of nerve endings in that part of his body, what they are for, and that yes, it's normal for the body to enjoy being touched. Let him know that he's beginning to grow up and his hormones are beginning to barely start running. Add that while it may feel pretty good, it's not a good idea to over-do for a lot of reasons, health being one of them. Then, if he has any questions you can't answer, it's time to hit the library - there are books there to help you explain to him what is going on.

Tell him it is a natural part of growing up and answer any questions he has the best that you can. If you have a brother or close friend maybe he should be enlisted to help explains things that only a man would know. Do NOT tell him it is dirty and not to touch himself because the guilt would be to much for him when he does masturbate(and he will). You don't have to explain all about sex right now but if he asks do tell him. Hopefully you will be able to explain things to him so that he is comfortable with his maturing body and not be guilty anytime that he becomes erect which will happen everyday and more than once a day as he is getting more mature. I hope this info is helpful to you and that you feel comfortable enough to explain things and talk to your son about this very special time in his life. If needed feel free to ask for help from someone who you feel would be helpful in explaining things in detail. Good Luck with your talk

It's totally normal and all normal boys start masturbating. This is natural and important for his future sexual health. Feeling guilty is obvious because our society is as it is. What you should do is find lots of medical information on this and let him read, so that he wouldn't feel guilty. Children who were punished for masturabation or affected in some other way suffer consequences in their adult sexual life.
So, the bottom line is: find and read the true medical facts on this and let your son read. And just say that masturabation is a normal and necessary part of any man's life.

Just tell him about the parts, and that they belong to him, and he can explore them however he likes as long as he keeps it private and he doesn't hurt himself.
Tell him there's nothing to be ashamed of but it's not appropriate to talk about except with a parent in private. Tell him that if any other man ever tries to ask about it or see it, etc that he needs to promise to tell you no matter what, even if the person makes a threat to keep it secret. Tell him you have ways of making sure that nothing bad will happen to him if he tells you.
At 10 years old that should be enough.

In this matter maybe U can have a talk with yours son like my
mom did.Remember that time my mom asked me for a shower
with her.I'm feel embarrassing that moment when we are naked.
But my mom just want me to know the different between boy and
girl body part. She help me know about the sex matter in a right
way in that shower time.Even she told me masturbation just a normal thing to do in ours life.So I think U can do this with yours
son.I'm sure U get closer with your son after this.

You should feel gratified that you and your son have the kind of relationship in which he feels comfortable bringing it up. Follow the advice given in previous answers and talk to him factually and non-judgmentally, and above all reassure him that nothing is wrong.
