Often a doctor can tell the sex of a baby by sonogram. 20 weeks is usually the time they like to pay attention to male or female body parts. Remember, if you are having a girl -at 17 weeks mistaken gender could be a possibility. Early in a baby's development female genitals look rather swollen and have been mistake for the scrotum. Boy or girl..CONGRATS!

Possibly, they were going to tell me at 17 weeks, but the baby boy decided he was going to be shy and keep them legs shut!! But I found out at 19 weeks. As far as development, yes you can tell if it is a boy or a girl at 17 weeks, whether the baby wants to show you is a different story though! Good Luck and Congrats

The doctor might make you wait untill you are between 20-24 weeks just so they know for sure. I waited untill i was 22 and it was clear, it just gets easier to tell the further along you are.

If you have a sonogram and the baby cooperates then most likely. With my son I found out at 16 weeks what I was having. Go for it. Good luck

depends if the baby wants to show you if i was you i would wait until the next appt just to make sure and the doctors may have you turn around to try to get the baby to move so you can see the gender

Possibly but not definitely. I had an ultrasound at 18 weeks and we could not tell, but my sis-in-law had hers at 18 also and they knew imediately. It just depends on the baby's development as well as position.

Good luck!
