So far, nobody has mentioned endorsements. The corporates LOVE All-Star players and this game is where they go get em. Some of these guys can or will make more money on this than they will on the field. Crazy isn't it?

Baseball is as big a mental game as physical, when you make it to the all star game you realie you are a great player which gives confidence and usually makes a player better, especially with pitching.

All-Star appearences are one thing writers look at when voting for the hall of fame. other than that really nothing. manny ramirez even opted not to go. he came up with an injury, but people around him say he'd rather spend time with his family. he still got voted in, and that looks good on a hof ballot, but that's it.
