Because most religions and mythologies originated from the ancient Sumerian texts and their gods. As these stories were passed on orally over thousands of years by different cultures and before they were written down again by different cultures the stories changed. Many scholars have said this is true and even relates to many stories in the OT of the bible as well and the mythologies of Greece, Rome, and Egypt.

India and Greece go way back...before Alexander's conquest in the third century BCE even.
Remember that Dionysos was sent to India where he was raised. You don't send your god of wine and free love to a place unless you're on good enough terms with the people there to be sure they'll raise him right and send him back.

Because in the beginning of Man's time, we were all one, and as the clans migrated and traveled, they took their oral folklore with them, so the stories migrated to the far coroners of the earth over the millenniums.
And there in lie the similarities, we all have the same roots, probably from our little mother Eve in Africa. One people, one earth.
