Not shallower, but maybe not as diversified a gene pool, just due to lack of contact with others not within the town pool of available partners.

An argument COULD be made that rural dwellers are more chromosomally pure than city dwellers. Marrying your sister is only bad (genetically speaking-leaving out the social commentary) if it reinforces harmful genes both you and your sister have. If it does reinforce harmful genes, and the mutations are bad enough to end in death or sterility of any issue of this union, then these traits eventually die out completely and only the good genes remains. Living in rural areas for centuries, most of the really harmful genes would have been weeded out after so much time.

That being said, its never a good idea to breed within your own gene pool for too long. The other side of the harmful gene thing is maybe youre reinforcing harmful genes which are NOT contra-survival, but still puts the owner at a distinct disadvantage (mental retardation, etc). Within the narrower gene pool, theres less competition for breeding, so not as many harmfuls die out completely (even the pug-ugliest chick can find someone at the Sadie Hawkins dance).

Considering the vast majority of city-dwellers were "rural dwellers" in the last generation, or not too long before that, don't get your hopes up.
And so long as you can still procreate with any other human of the opposite sex, you "evolved" from the same gene pool as everyone else.
Sorry man. If you are a city dweller, though, maybe that means more hope for your offspring though.

Let's see who could survive a week without power and then decide who is smarter. Country folk would survive! They know how to grow there on food and smoke too! There ain't too many things them old boys can't do! I'm from the country and I like it that way! I hate living in the city. I swear it drives me crazy. I hear gun shots all of the time. The only time I ever heard gun shots in the country it was hunting season and someone went out to find dinner.

Considering that all city dwellers came from rural types, doesn't that make your question just a tad rediculous?

No it is not. People coming up with such notions is the reason why I am beginning to lose faith in the majority of humanity.

Obviously if that is what you think then you aren't as evolved as you seem to think.
