That is pretty ironic but similar incidents have happened in this increibly passionate sport. After 1994 world cup a Colobian player who scored on his own goal in a game against the US was shot upon his return home.
By the way it is not 7 minutes, it was a 7 meter statue.

That is truly sad. I would have never dreamed they would do anything like that. I guess the saying "fair weather friends" should apply to fans as well. He's still young and has years of potential ahead of him. I could certainly see why he would consider leaving Brazil but I have a feeling he will do the nobler thing by being more faithful to his country than "some" of the fans have been to him. "Some" hopefully being insignificant and few in number.

Yes. Some Brazillian things have startled me. For example, a while back they were looking to elect a new President. One group elected a monkey as their candidate. The monkey came in third in the polls out of eight people running.

those Brazillian fans are just simply fanatic, they just could not accept that their national team lost!! some fans suffered heart attack when BRAZIL lost in the quarter-final match against FRANCE!!

I saw that in the papers too... but nothing to worry about.... it is the in-thing this WC -- bash Portuguese speaking players even if the bashing is by portuguese speaking people themselves.
