Does homosexuality get passed down genetically? I ask because I have a friend in high school who came out of the closet after his sister did. I always thought he did it because he was already involved in that community and had more gay friends than he did straight. If there is one homosexual in a family are they more likely to have another?

Obviously, from what's been said so far, you're not ignorant, because in the end, nobody really knows.
From my personal experience, I know too many siblings/cousins/parents and children that are both gay for me to believe that there is no link whatsoever. However, there are a lot of interacting forces, so it certainly isn't the only factor in determining someone's sexual orientation.

Nope there is no genetic link, in many cases if a family already has one open gay member, then it makes it easier for another gay family member to come out because they see that there is a support system present. So that they don't feel there is going to be any rejection.

I believe there is a genetic link but it has not been proved.
Science is still trying to prove that there is such a thing as global warming. Just as many scientist believe that there is solar warming and that we are not to blame for the raising of temperature that the earth is currently experiencing.

I'd call that a rarity. Most siblings reject their brother or sister's homosexuality (from what I have heard from my friends and my own experiences).

no one knows.the effect might also come from a more tolerant family / social enviroment allows people to express their sexuality more openly?
