Jesus is what ties us to God, people seem to be able to relate to Jesus (seems that he was a real person) better than to a God that you really can't see, so the bible/or bibles that were written by man used this Jesus (son of God) to good use.

The Trinity.
The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit is one God.
Saint Patrick used the shamrock to explain the Trinity, that in the one God there are three divine beings: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Three leaves on one shamrock.
