Yeah, everyone hates fast food jobs but you should just get any job opportunity that comes your way because you'll have that experience to put down on your application once you want to get a better job. I say this because I know from experience what being picky causes; I am about to turn 18 and I still haven't found a job. I was just like you; I had friends who said fast food places suck and so I was looking for jobs at other places, but that's brought me no where.

Target is one place where people teens are employed for the first time, so if you have one near you, then go for it. Seriously man, just go for anything that's easy for you.

Try something like a video store or even a game store. How about a book store?? Those are good starter jobs and you won't be lonely, you'll be working with the public and learn a lot of skills and be able to talk to different kinds of people.

Being 17, if you are lucky, some department stores might give you a chance, including bigger ones at the mall. Also movie theaters; and then you get to watch your movies for free. I was an usher so many years ago; but then again, stay away from the food part; but that part ain't so bad, especially if you don't close.

Retail. Music store, video store, department store, whatever. Kiosk jobs at the mall are great for people who don't want to get lost in the shuffle...and don't mind being alone for hours on end. Gosh that can get boring. Grocery stores tend to have a negative connotation attached to them, but there's no shame in working at one. You know you'll always have enough hours because people always need groceries.

Ice cream shops are a second alternative... I know someone who works at DQ and he's 16... I would say the library or something. It's fairly easy... And fun... Really ^_^

Yeah, try your local grocery store. My brother-in-law started as a teenager bagging groceries...He put his wife through college on his earnings, and worked his way up to store manager.

There are stores in the mall. Icecream shops sound cool too.

Construction sites and road crews often need people to do menial labor that experienced people tend to turn down. They pay REALLY well!
