i have a Laptop with a Dvd rewritable drive
silly maybe.. but how do i write files to a dvd instead of a cd-r/rw? i could get 4.7gb on a disc instead of 700mb.... i have been trying it for ages.. but dvd drive won't let me use anything but cdr-rw's.... what am i doing wrong? Many thanks for helping... lovely people...!!

i assume you run xp
check to see if your system recognizes your drive
go to
START
Control Panel
System
System Properties
Hardware
Device Manager
Dvd/CD rom drives
To see if your system recognizes your dvd drive

Are you sure it's a rewritable drive or a drive just to read DVDs . I have one and thought was a burner but it was just a DVD reader drive and CD burner

Emm... Are you sure that it is a DVD RW & not a DVD rom & CD RW? Cuz you can't burn DVDs with a CD_RW while you can read them if it supports reading DVDS. otherwise there mustn't be any problems, you can burn a DVD just like a CD.

DVD+R and DVD-R are not interchangeable
