Juliet Schor wrote a great book about this topic. It is entitled "The Overworked American: The Unexpected Decline of Leisure." She mentioned in her book that America has been so good at automation and producing more in less time that bosses (out of greed) will expect more out of their workers. At this stage, we have gotten so good at producing, that the typical American can take several months off and still get all of their work done (if the employer did not keep raising the bar and demanding more work and increased productivity). So, to make a long answer short, yes we work too much for too little pay and our relationships are suffering for it. Our relationship with our kids (most new moms can't afford to take a long maternity leave theses days) and on our love relationships (hard to have a good relationship if you do not see your spouse much).
There is really not much we can do about it. We have become a global economy and if we don't work the hours, trust me, someone in India will.

I think most of american workers out there are overworked and underpaid. Did you know we work more hours than the japanese and those ppl are workoholics. Another reason why we are overworked and underpaid is that it takes two incomes to support an average family. In my opinion ppl out there are looking for more opportunities than ever before and I think if people were given the right opportunity they would very much succeed.

I believe the typical work week of an average American family is in the neighborhood of 40 hours. Except for some European countries like France and Germany, in relative terms; the American family is not over worked. European countries who have placed emphasis on less work and more vacation are seeing their economies fall apart.
Excessive hours of work definitely impacts on relationships.
I think American families ought to work on the moral fabric of the Country which has deteriorated since the advances of the fifties.

i in my opinion continually deposit my assessments with a teller, it really is only a decision although. It royally pisses me off even as no checkout lanes are open at grocery shops except for the self-inspect lanes. heavily...I even ought to do THEIR pastime and that i do not get a chit?! now to not teach how I even ought to attend there for 10 minutes. if i'm determining to purchase alcohol. It truly takes jobs away so i wager me continually utilising the lanes used by using human beings shows that a minimum of a few shoppers nevertheless choose having a real human being do the artwork.

When you have a great education and a great salary then you shouldnt have to work a lot. I think you work enough in college trying to hang in there and make your life better in the future. People work longer work hours to get by and help support there families which only makes them better financially .
Nice pic. very handsome.
