I think they are too young and are bound for a slump, but can the yankees or blue jays win enough to take the wildcard, or will the twins manage to shock the nation, i am counting the red sox and white sox as givens.

Yes, I believe they can. As the wild card. The red sox win the east; and the yankees stay home and watch on TV.

They have a good mix of talented young players & experienced veterans. ....so they are not as young as people think.

Plus Jim Leyland has them playing like a team.

Jim Leyland is experienced (1997 Flordia Marlins)---so he will keep the team focused.

Kenny Rodgers has worked wonders with the other pitchers.

I think they will make the playoffs and could very well make it to the ALCS (where we play The White Sox---and anything can happen in a best of 5 series).

If they have a slump...it wont be for long.

If they play .500 ball the rest of the season they'll win 96 games.

That should be good enough for a wild card.

The best part? The yankees stay home!

I disagree! Their manager Jim Leyland has them playing sound baseball, and they are handling themselves professionally as they approach ever game. With Pudge Rodriguez, Manuel Ordinez, and Carlos Guillen, they have enough veteran leadership, and their pitching is the best in baseball. This is a team that is focused and hungry, as well as very talented!! I am not predicting a World Series Ring, and, as much as it grieves me to say this, the White Sox may still take the AL Central! But, if the Tigers do not win their division, they will be the AL Wild Card representative in the playoffs come October!

No. they could beat out the twins and the white sox. The twins are 7 and a 1/2 video games in the back of the yankees for the wild card. what does that inform you? teh tigers pick to play some stellar ball in the experience that they pick to get into the playoffs

The Tigers might just choke look for a surge from the Twins. Red Sox win it all Yankees sit at home and watch.

They might make the playoffs, but how far I don't know. As the season progresses the preasure to win will increase and the white sox are already breathing down their throats. They will eventually choke towards the end but they just might be able to get a wild card birth because of their solid play in the first half.

You got to believe that your team can do it! In 91 nobody gave the Braves or the Twins a chance and they met in the series! I believe they have a great pitching staff and a good starting lineup and oh yeah one heck of a manager in Jim Leland. So, yeah I believe the Tigers can shock the experts and not only make the playoffs, but maybe just take it all!

they will, they have Jimmy Leyland at the helm! I wish we still had him in Pittsburgh... cause we definitely aren't making the playoffs
