who came up with the idea of swear words, and why are they bad?

A long time ago, the snobby upper class and royals decided some words were bad because the lower class was saying them. They have since evolved into "bad" words, though they really don't mean anything aside from the meaning assigned to them by people.

I don't think their bad, as much as they are just rude and unnecessary.
