Use this time to start setting goals for yourself. Without goals it is no telling where you will wind up. Life goes by very, very fast..before you know it you will have missed out on a very important part of it. By setting goals...and striving to reach them you can make it possible to obtain what you would like out of life. So, set short time goals...those for your immediate future...and long term goals for where you would like to be five...then ten years from now. Not only will this give your life direction, it will build your character and help you mature. Finally your goals will put you in control as opposed to letting yourself be controlled by others. MAKE YOURSELF A DREAM...AND FOLLOW IT!

you have to change your perception of being alone before you can do that. feeling lonely is not the same as being alone - you can be in a room full of people and still feel lonely.

just remember that every day above ground is a good day - even if life sucks sometimes, always thank the Lord that you're alive because the alternative is that you're not. and then think what you'd be missing out on.

sometimes it's hard to be thankful for what you've got. when i get really down, i always give thanks for my job, which allows me to live, for the home i have, which means i'm not living on the streets, and for my dinner which means i'm not going to sleep hungry like so many people in the world.

when you can value yourself, your lonely time will change to quality alone time - the time when you don't have to talk to anyone and when you can sit at your computer in your underwear, drinking a beer and listening to your favourite music loud ;)

I take lessons from my 2 1/2 year old daughter. When she is by herself, she is constantly doing something: learning how something works, playing with toys, making noise. It would be easy for me to sit around and feel lonely and sorry for myself, but I line up things to do during the day to keep me busy and entertained. It is as simple as watching a movie, cleaning the kitchen, or going grocery shopping.

This is a very deep question. Perhaps the essence of all spirituality and art. There is a great difference between loneliness and solitude.

Loneliness is when one would like to be with others but can't. It is the feeling of wanting to escape from oneself. To be with others to forget oneself.

Solitude on the other hand is a sate of complete comfort with oneself. It is a state of peace and tranquility with nothing external being sought after.

The process of moving from loneliness to solitude involves a great deal of courage, as it requires one to confront ones deepest fears and conflicts.

If you're a particularly extroverted person, "lonely time" might just be alone.

Not every person can enjoy quality alone time.

Figure out what things you can do that you find interesting. Reading, drawing, cleaning or rearranging your home, writing a story or a peom or a song or in a diary, dancing, primping (like giving yourself a manicur or pedicure or both, or shaving)

I agree with Robere. You need to have a goal to work for to increase quality time.

Internet is one of the outlets.
