Don't start freaking out now about your life plan. You've got so much time ahead of you that it's not worth it to freak out so soon. Although, I do understand because I'm the same way.
I've decided that I'm going to be an actress in New York, but I know that my parents wish I would choose a different profession. The best thing to do in this situation is get involved in theatre and make sure that's really what you want to do. It's very time consuming.
Also, be sure and tell your mom that you want to be an actress. You might be surprised by what she says.
If you want to be an actress, taking ballet is a good thing. If you want to act in musicals, dance is required and you're learning all about it now. You'll have a step up on the competition. And, even if you don't want to act in musicals, having a dancer's grace can always help you.
If you're convinced you're called to be an actress in life, just talk to your mom. You've still got a lot of time left before you have to decide what to do with your life. When I was 11, I wanted to be a vet. Now look what I'm doing. I'm becoming an actress. Things change. Wish you all the best though.

What kind of actresss? Stage, screen or television??
Have you thought about all this? Once you think out the details, you should talk to your mom and reason with her.
Incidentally, how good are you at Math? And as far as I know, there is no worthwhile career being a Mathematician. You could probsbly use your Math prowess to go into the sciences or Engineering where the careers are more 'lucrative', only, provided, you are interested in them.
Think about it. Let me know if you need any help.

I definitely know where you're coming from because I feel the same way still. What you can do is get as much experience as you can now. Audition for your school's musicals, church productions. Ballet Definitely will help you.
When you go to college, I recommend majoring in something other than acting...or double major that way you have something to fall back on in case it doesn't work out.

You can do both :)
I've always wanted to become an Architect/Interior Designer ever since I was little (I love to draw), but as I got older, I started to gain interest for computers and technology...I thought I could only study one thing in college, but when I visited the college I'll be starting this fall, I learned that I could double-major...& that's what I'm going to do...major in both Architecture & Computer Engineering, see which one I like the best, & see where each (or both) take me :)
Good luck

Well, most of the mothers and fathers of today's actors wanted them to be something else. The problem is that the acting profession is so chancy and nothing is guaranteed. You might have to starve the rest of your life and then again you might be famous. Nothing is for sure in the acting profession. Most parents want their children to be secure and be able to support themselves. That is by no means sure if one decides to be an actor.
But even though their parents wanted them to be something else, most famous actors persevered because they "had the acting bug," and nothing else could satisfy.
So just be what you want - when you're famous your parents will be thrilled!

Good news! You can be a Mathematician and an actress. Take drama in school and math. Contrary to what many will tell you, you can pursue many dreams and succeed at them all.

You are clearly very very bright... you can do both. If when you are finished with high school still into acting you can pursue it at that point. The main thing is not to miss out on opportunities and limit yourself to one career choice. :) You've got lots of time sweetie! :)
