One Canadian Member of Parliament was asked a similar question after they passed gay marriage over here in Canada. The question was something like, "Would the government allow two consenting brothers to be married".

Makes you stop and think what can of worms they open up with their legislation.

Almost all cultures consider incest to be morally wrong.

There are a couple of good reasons for the latter:

If parents or significantly older siblings are committing incest with children, it can lead to developmental/psychological problems that may never be resolved. That's a moral problem.

Biologically, any offspring of an incestuous relationship have a greater chance of having birth defects, some incapacitating. That's a social and moral problem.

Homosexuality -- provided it's not incestuous and is between consenting adults -- presents no moral or social difficulties (at least to me). However, it can result in social problems with narrow-minded Bible thumpers.

Well that depends on who you're talking to. Some people could see them, morally, as the same thing - and awful sinful sexual act. However, others could see Homosexuality as normal and natural, but incest is generally excepted as taboo, disgusting, and wrong. It makes the likelihood of having birth defects much greater, so it also very dangerous if a pregnancy occurred (in a homosexual relationship pregnancy cannot directly occurs without an outside party). Socially they can both be frowned upon greatly, though homosexuality less. I think incest is also illegal in most places.

Socially I think they are looked on the same level but morally they are different things, obviously. One just happens to be that two guys or two girls find each other attracive. It's not something they can control or change, really. Same Kinda goes for incest. No one can't really change the fact that they have an attracive relative. But incest is able to be overscome or resisted. In the case of incest, no one is marking off everyone you like as "untouchable". There are other fish in the sea that you will find and fall in love with. Homosexuality is different. There aren't any other people that society will approve of that you can date. You can't say, "Oh, it's just one person. I'll move on to someone else."

You can't change the fact that you are gay or that you may have a hot cousin, but you can choose someone other than your cousin, where in homosexuality you can't choose someone else because everyone you prefer is "off limits."

Depends on whom you ask. Homosexuality is not expressly illegal in the US because it is a lifestyle engaged in by consenting adults. There are sodomy laws in some states that make homosexual SEX illegal, but you can't legislate who people can fall in love with or move in with. As far as morality is concerned, it depends on your system of beliefs; some religious groups say that it is wrong because it is not behavior that can result in procreation, to which gay rights proponents respond by saying that if a heterosexual couple is unable to conceive a child, they are also living in sin because they violate one of the Christian god's first commands to humanity: be fruitful and multiply.

Incest, on the other hand, is illegal in all states, even between consenting adults, mostly because of biological reasons -- inbreeding isn't exactly good for the family tree, because it risks reinforcing harmful recessive genes and making it much more likely that any children from incestuous unions would have major birth defects or congenital diseases. In many places, homosexuality is an accepted way of life, but incest isn't accepted anywhere except certain EXTREMELY isolated communities where they just get away with it because no one's there to notice.

Homosexuality is a way of life and does no harm to others. It has existed as long as there have been straight people. Incest breaks the family bond (or actualy joins it) because the dna mix of two related people is likely to cause birth defects along the family line. By now, homosexuality should be 100% acceptable in society but incest, I hope, will never be.

Number one homosexuality is between two consenting people who for some reason (genetic) prefer the same sex. That's their business!!! Incest is sex between, usually a father and a child. Please it is morally and socially wrong and punishable by law. A child is a sacred trust, not a toy for daddy(or Mommy).

that's really messed up, dude. homosexuality is sex between ppl of the same sex. incest is sex between members of the same family. the dif is that homosexuality is accepted some of the time while incest is accepted none of the time
