Yeah, right, like you don't wash every day.
Different spots need different treatment; hormones and stress are the biggest culprits.
Some spots are caused by bacteria in the skin, and can be treated with antibiotics. Some respond to Canestan cream for thrush! So I guess if its not hurting, try it and see what works for you.

Well, I don't know about those but I use something else.
I use the Clear Skin Regimen at http://www.acne.org. It's a non-profit (so it's free), the guy who created used to suffer from pimples himself. The system works wonders on my face, and its helped countless other people. The best part is that you don't have to order or buy any expensive treatments, everything you need for the Regimen can be found at your local drugstore. Find out more at the website.

In general, for clear skin it helps if you: don't touch/pick at your skin, drink lots of water, wash your hair frequently, change your pillowcases, exercise, wear little make-up (or if needed, hypo-allergenic makeup), and minimize stress.

Another tip is to look up online consumer reviews of acne products before you buy them, using sites like epinions.com or drugstore.com. A great website I use to get cosmetic reviews is makeupalley.com (A mostly women's site). Hope this helps!

I don't want to sound like an advertiser... but proactive works like REALLY good. I had terrible acne when I was 14 and it cleared up in like 3 weeks. It's usually 20$-30$ at pretty much anywhere you go.
Good Luck!

I put toothpaste on single spots, that usually dries them out.

One that really works well is spraying them with perfume.

Oh, and a bit of sun helps clear up skin too.

Also, ironically, washing your face TOO much can make it worse, just twice a day is fine.
