I would say rock
and what types well depends on the person
personally i go for hardcore indie emo what ever actually
just something i like
rap and hip hop it all sounds the same to me
just the same

i say rock because there are so many diferent types that different people like........ for example my dad likes 60-70's rock i like 80 and present soft and alternative rock (are completely different in and of themselves) and my little bro likes screaming punk...... thats like four different generations of rock and they are all extremely different in style. so i think rock spans over more genres and over more age groups than rap or r&b. thats why its more popular i think. also most of the fans of rock and r&b are mostly around the same age group....rock covers most every age group

my little corner town is dominated by "rap & R&B", but I have my heart in Rock All The Way to the Bone!!!!

for recorded music, hip hop is doing really well. But live music is dominated by ROCK. Long live rock!
