well, i'm sure it can happen at any age. Usually it comes with your period.. but yeast infections can be caused by your hormones jumping up and down. Since your hitting puberty right about now.. that may be the problem. You should go to the doctor and have her check you out... it might seem scary to go to her but she can give you medicine to make it hurt/itch less. Yeast infections are rough so hang in there.

Others have given good info but pardon me for adding this - do you have a weight problem? If you are overweight and have a family history of diabetes a high occurance of yeast infection can be a symptom. Unfortunately, 12 years old is no longer thought of as too young for type2 diabetes.

hmmm. Are you masturbating? Are you currently or have you recently taken antibiotics? If the answer to these is no then you should see a doctor. It's nothing to be embarrassed about and you should talk to your mom and ask her to take you to the gynecologist.
If you're taking antibiotics, most are not specific, meaning that not only do they kill bad bacteria, but good bacteria too including the bacteria in the vagina that keeps yeast from taking over.
If you are masturbating you may be introducing bacteria inside from your hands. Stop until you are treated and cleared of the infection and then always make sure you wash your hands before you take care off business.
Also, make sure when you use the bathroom that you wipe from front to back instead of the other way around. Even though you cant see it, you may be introducing bacteria from feces to your vagina.

check the basics first
wear white cotton underware
wipe from front to back
don't use bubble bath or scented soap
those are the most common problems
also if those dontr work you should scedule an appointment with a gyn for a pelvic exam, you may have bacterial vaginosis insted of a yeast infection
