In the fall i will be starting my forth year in college and im unhappy with what im learning. I feel as though it has been a waste of time and money. (im a business major) My question is should i stick it out this last year or change majors even though it will be more expensive and time consuming? ( Im also deep in school loan debt- this worries me a great deal)

My advice is finish the degree you started. Your in your senior year, which means you've already completed 75% of you undergrad. If you feel so unhappy about the business degree after you graduate then decide on what type of education you want to pursue and get a grad degree in that subject.

Hi, maybe you can find something that uses the business major but is more interesting for you. What about accounting?
If your really not interested in your major and you feel that you will be unhappy if you got a job in such a field. Then maybe you could switch to another major that doesn't require as much school time- maybe just get an associate degree, or switch to a college that has a cheaper tuition- a community college.

As a middle aged person, I am going to give you the benefit of some experience. I would like to tell you, in the nicest possible way--finnish your darn degree this year and get it over with. What you get your BS in is barely relevant in the job market--they just want you to have one--any one. Happy? You want to be happy? Are you not in enough debt now? Get it over with, get a job and get it paid off. There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING that is worth getting in any more debt because of school! You would be so old before it is paid off that college would be a hazy memory! Just suck it up and get it done. Move on with starting your life. It is much too short for the fooling around you are thinking about. And I really did mean that in a nice way. Good luck.

Well my best suggestion to you is follow your interests. You must understand...college is the starting point to your career so to speak...so if your majoring in something that completely is uninteresting to you now....how do you think you'd feel 20 years from now? You could always continue your current major...then after graduation continue taking classes for a different degree....and choose which you like better later. And don't let student loans get ya down...I have plenty of those also...and still undecided as to which major i want...but I figure at least now I'm one step ahead than i was...and if i choose to go another way...I have something to support me until my new goal is reached.

Before you change majors, you want to think about what you want to do after college. If you want to go get a job, think about what you want to do and what will make you happy.

If you want go to graduate school (or get a doctorate) think about what you want to get your graduae degree in.

For example, if you want to go into med school, I'd just stick with business, since it doesn't matter. My sister got an Economics Undegraduate degree, but went on to become a doctor.

Have you talked to your college counselor? His or her input might help you make that decision. The counselor might also make a referral on how you can lock in your interest as well.
